Carbon Fiber Heat Lamps for Format Printing: Built for the Job
Let’s talk about heat lamps—specifically, the kind that live inside format printing machines. We built these carbon fiber heat lamps for one reason: the work demands fast, controllable heat in a space that’s tight. You need something that wakes up instantly, holds steady, and fits where the dryer section is crowded.
Power, Voltage, and Size—Straight to the Point
At the heart is a 300mm tube running at 400V and 2500W. That power density is what gives you the rapid temperature ramp you need when the line is moving fast and drying has to happen immediately. The 300mm length isn’t random. It’s long enough to cover broad drying zones, but short enough to slip into compact machine channels without a fight. And it’s not a low-voltage setup. Running at 400V means you get the same power with lower current, so the wiring and termination points run cooler and with less electrical strain. Here’s the catch, though: packing 2500W into 300mm is serious heat. Your machine’s cooling and airflow have to be up to the task. If airflow is too small, everything runs hotter—and service life drops fast.
What’s Inside, and Why It Matters
Inside the quartz envelope, we use a halogen cycle. The chemistry helps keep the filament stable by limiting evaporation, so the output stays consistent over time instead of fading quickly. The quartz tube also handles thermal shock well, which matters because printing equipment is constantly powering down between jobs and then firing back up. Then there’s the carbon fiber element. It spreads heat evenly and is mechanically tough. It can handle vibration and repeated heating and cooling without cracking—important when the lamp sits close to moving webs and rollers. We pair it with an R7s connector because it’s a proven, high-temperature interface. It installs quickly and keeps solid contact. On a printing machine, vibration and thermal expansion can loosen things over time; the R7s design helps the connection stay stable.
Why This Works So Well for Format Printing
In format printing, the goal is simple: dry the ink fast—without scorching the substrate. The lamp’s fast response gives you tighter control over the drying curve, so you can keep pace with speed changes without overheating the print. And the compact 300mm length makes retrofits easier. Less rework. Less downtime. You end up with a rugged heating component that can be swapped in as a drop-in replacement. The 400V operation and high wattage deliver the heat density industrial drying needs. Just keep one thing straight: make sure your machine’s airflow and thermal management are matched to the lamp. Otherwise, you’ll burn through components way sooner than you want.
