The Nitty-Gritty on Power
When you’re picking out these lamps, keep an eye on the watt-density. That’s what actually controls your cycle time. If you’re working with materials that just refuse to soak up heat, you’ll want those high-wattage elements to really push the energy through. We usually match the voltage to whatever you’ve already got on your floor. Why? Because nobody wants to deal with bulky transformers taking up space. Just a heads-up: if you go with a high-voltage setup, your current draw drops, but you’ve got to make sure your wiring and insulation can handle it. You don’t want to deal with an arc-over mid-shift.
Fitting Them In
We use a specific type of quartz glass because it lets those infrared rays fly right through. The heat goes where it’s supposed to go, instead of getting trapped inside the bulb. And don’t worry about the installation. Most of our units use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They’re basically drop-in replacements for most industrial ovens. We kept the mounting hardware simple because, let’s be honest, the last thing you need is more clutter in your workspace.
Real-World Use
You’ll mostly see these things in PET bottle blowing, curing paint, or welding plastics. One thing I love about carbon fiber is that it handles vibration way better than tungsten. If your shop floor is shaking, these bulbs aren’t going to just pop and burn out on you. But here’s the thing… there is a catch. Because the heat is so intense, it’s easy to overdo it. If your conveyor belt is crawling too slowly, you’re going to scorch your materials. You’ll need to dial in your timing and probably hook it up to a PID controller.
