We built this infrared carbon lamp for engineers who just need raw power, packed into a small space. It runs off a 400V input and hits 2500W, all from a 300mm tube. That’s serious energy, delivered fast. The voltage choice keeps the current on the line side manageable. So if you’re wiring up multiple zones, you don’t have to worry about overloading the panel. And the short 300mm length? It’s all about getting into those tight reflector cavities and narrow heating lanes.
What’s Inside, and Why It Matters
Inside, the carbon filament sits in a halogen-filled quartz envelope. The halogen cycle keeps the filament clean, which means a stable output and a longer life than you’d get from a bare carbon element. The quartz tube handles the shock of rapid on-off cycling and stands up to harsh chemicals in industrial settings. And we went with the R7s base because it gives you a solid, two-point connection—mechanical and electrical. It stays put, even when the machine is vibrating.
Where This Shines (and What to Watch For)
This setup is for industrial heating where speed and focused infrared output are everything—plastic forming, coating curing, component drying. The heat is concentrated, so ramp-up is fast and control is tight. But that intensity means the surrounding equipment needs to be ready for it. Cooling, shielding, and proper clearance are non-negotiable. It’s designed as a drop-in replacement, but before you wire it up, double-check your fixture dimensions and make sure your thermal management is in place.
