
The Lowdown on Twin Tube Carbon Fiber Heating Lamps
Ever tried to push a single-filament quartz tube to the limit, only to have it burn out right when you need it? We’ve been there. That’s why we went with a twin-tube design. Basically, we put two parallel carbon fiber elements inside one quartz tube. It’s a simple tweak, but it doubles the heat output for every millimeter of length. If you’ve got a tight space but need a massive amount of power and a fast warm-up, this is your best bet. It just fits right in.
The Nitty-Gritty: Power and Heat
Here’s the thing about the twin-tube setup: it lets you pull way more wattage out of a shorter lamp. If you go with the high-voltage options—like the 230V or 400V versions—you’ll notice the current draw drops. That’s a big deal because it keeps your wiring from getting dangerously hot during those long production shifts. And we use high-purity carbon fiber for a reason. Standard nichrome wire tends to sag or just snap when things get really hot. Carbon fiber doesn’t do that. It stays put.
How It’s Built
We wrap everything in hard quartz. This keeps oxygen out so the carbon doesn’t oxidize and disappear. Depending on what your machine looks like, we can fit these with R7s or SK15 connectors. We didn’t pick those just because they’re common; they provide a rock-solid electrical connection. No arcing, no sparks, no headaches. Some of our lamps even have a special coating. It tweaks the heat spectrum so the energy actually hits your workpiece instead of just heating up the frame of your machine.
Where to Use Them (And a Few Warnings)
You’ll see these working hard in PET blowing, paint curing, and plastic welding. The shortwave radiation hits the material fast and deep. But, look—there is a trade-off. Because these lamps pack so much heat into such a small area, they can easily bake your surrounding housing if you aren’t careful. You’ve got to get your cooling fans or heat sinks right. If the air can’t move, your lamp’s lifespan will tank. One last tip: keep an eye on your voltage. Carbon fiber is sensitive. A big voltage spike will kill these filaments much faster than it would a standard halogen lamp, so keep things stable.
